This technique is a time management method which uses a timer to break down work into intervals. The key idea is to truly focus on a single task for a finite period of time and then to take a short break to renew your energy. How Does It Work?
Step 1: Plan
Enter your tasks for the day and a set a goal of daily sessions to keep you motivated. You then decide on the task you wish to accomplish.
Step 2: Work
To work in a concentrated manner on a task, split you work time into 4 intervals of 25 minutes, each separated by a short break. You complete each cycle with a longer break. You can customize the length of the intervals and breaks in the app to fit your needs.
Once you’re set, get ready to work! Try to work on your task without getting distracted: we suggest turning off all notifications, avoid social media and browsing the web.
The timer alerts you when the first interval, called a Focus Session, is over. Well done! You have given your task quality time. Now it’s time for a short break. We recommend standing up and stretching out a bit. You want to feel fresh for your next work cycle. Once you’ve treated yourself to a sip of your preferred drink and gave your brain a time to relax, it is time to get back at it again.
Do this process 4 times. Once you have finished the last session of this cycle, you can take a longer break to renew your energy and ability to concentrate.
Step 3: Evaluate
Look back and see how much work you have accomplished. Congratulate yourself for reaching your goals.
